AIP (Agreement in Principle)

An agreement in principle is a formal agreement setting out basic in-principle terms. In the context of residential mortgages, an agreement in principle is a formal estimate from a lender indicating how much money they are prepared to lend, which can act as proof of seriousness to proceed with a transaction.
