Biofuels

Biofuels are renewable fuels derived from organic materials, such as plant or animal waste, which is known as biomass, and can be produced in a much shorter period of time than the lengthy natural process of fossil fuel formation. They can be used as an alternative to these fossil fuels in transportation, heating, and electricity generation, with common types of biofuels including ethanol, biodiesel, and biogas. The use of these fuels can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, decrease dependence on fossil fuels, and support rural economies through the cultivation of feedstocks.
