Carbon Sinks

A carbon sink absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere than it releases. Plants, the ocean and soil can all be carbon sinks. Conversely, a carbon source is anything that releases more carbon than it absorbs from the atmosphere, for example a volcano eruption.
