Digital Currency or Digital money

A digital currency, or digital money, is a currency or means of exchange that is created, spent and for which transaction records are stored exclusively in databases on computer systems. The term evolved as a catch-all to describe non-fiat currencies such as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but with the rise of central bank digital currencies, the term equally refers to fiat currencies in digital format.
