Distressed Asset

Distressed assets are those that have been significantly devalued due to reasons idiosyncratic to a company, for example because it has missed debt payments, is involved in a restructuring, or a negative event in relation to the company has taken place. Distressed asset investing, predominantly focused on debt, has become a sub-asset class, focusing on opportunities both in developed and emerging markets.
