Import Duty
An import tariff is a fixed or variable tax charged by governments or regional trade blocs on the importation of goods and services. They act both as a source of tax revenue as well as a tool to regulate the flow of international trade to suit government policy. High import tariffs, for example, can act as a driver of import substitution to support domestic businesses.
