Incorporation
Companies register with government bodies through what is called a process of incorporation. This establishes them as legal entities (persons) distinct from the individual(s) that own or manage them. UK companies are incorporated at Companies House. Once incorporated, directors are bound by law to file annual accounts as well as company changes such as the appointment or resignation of directors. Incorporated companies will have articles of association, a legally binding internal rulebook that ensures they run smoothly.
