Inflation Accounting

Inflation Accounting

Inflation accounting is used to take into account the impact of significant amounts of inflation or deflation in a company’s financial statements, where not doing so would decrease the value of the financial statements. Since there are significant changes in costs and revenues over an accounting period due to price changes, inflation accounting adjusts the amounts by an inflation index to reflect appropriate information in the financial statements.
