An investment horizon refers to how long an investor is prepared to consider running an investment position. When financial market analysts are asked what their market outlooks are, their first question is invariably ‘on what time horizon’? Financial advisors say clients should focus on investing for the medium term because the effects of short-term market volatility are smoothed out if an investor has a longer investment horizon.
