Labour Intensive

Certain types of manufacturing and other forms of production where the cost inputs of the labour required to produce the outputs are significant relative to the cost of other costs in the production value chain (such as machinery) are said to be labour intensive. Segments of the economy such as certain types of agricultural harvesting or traditional retailing are labour intensive. Labour-intensive industries tend to be synonymous with low wages.
