A Nature-Based Solution (NbS) is a sustainable strategy which protects, restores, or manages ecosystems and other elements of the natural world in such a way that addresses socio-environmental challenges, such as climate change, food and water security, biodiversity loss, and natural disaster risk. Examples include reforestation, wetland restoration, safeguarding freshwater, and green infrastructure. An NbS provides multiple benefits, including carbon sequestration, water regulation, habitat creation, and building overall resilience for the natural world.
