Nominal Effective Exchange Rate

Nominal Effective Exchange Rate

A currency’s nominal effective exchange rate (NEER) is a weighted average of the nominal bilateral FX rates between that currency and a basket of foreign currencies. In the case of the euro, the European Central Bank calculates the euro’s NEER as weighted averages of bilateral euro exchange rates against 42 trading partners of the euro area.
