Non-Operating Asset

Non-operating assets are assets of a company that might have income-generating features but which have no direct business function so are not essential to its operations. Excess cash (cash not required to fund the business), cash-equivalents and marketable securities, certain types of supply-chain lending, and unused land can be considered non-operating assets.
