Option Premium

The option premium is the price of an option (call or put). Payment of the premium or receipt of the premium gives, respectively, the option purchaser and option seller the contractual right to trade at the terms set by the option. The premium is derived by adding the option’s intrinsic value (the difference between the price of the underlying and the strike price) to its time value (premium less intrinsic value).
