Origination

In investment banking and capital markets, origination is a client-facing function that seeks to win client business. It is typically split by product across syndicated lending, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, securitisation, convertibles etc. Bond (or debt capital markets) originators, for example, will seek to win client mandates to structure and distribute bond new issues as well as related derivatives services.
