Parent company

A parent company is a company that owns a majority or a controlling interest of another company i.e. its subsidiary, giving it ultimate control. Parent companies produce consolidated balance sheets that include the assets and liabilities of subsidiaries. From a management standpoint, parent companies canmay take a hands-on approach and exercise tight control or adopt a less active day-to-day role.
