A partnership is a business format that can be set up under a variety of different legal means. The formats differ by country. In the UK, a standard business partnership is a legal arrangement where partners have joint responsibility for operating the business. Limited Partnerships split responsibilities between general and limited partners (with different accountabilities and responsibilities) while Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) are legal persons in their own right so partners are absolved of personal responsibility for liabilities
