Petty Cash

Petty cash refers to the float of banknotes and coins that companies maintain to cover small day-to-day business costs that are individually too small to justify the use of bank transfers, credit or debit cards. Companies typically assign responsibility for maintaining the petty cash float and ensuring it is accounted for correctly (including for business taxation purposes) to one person in the accounting department.
