Plant Genetics

This is the study of genes, genetic variation and heredity specifically in plants. The understanding of plant genetics has had major economic impacts with many of the traditional crops around the world being genetically modified in order to increase yields, limit pest and disease damage, provide resistance to herbicides and to increase their nutritional value.
