Private Investment Fund

Private investment funds include vehicles like private equity funds, hedge funds and family offices. As private vehicles, they are not permitted to make public solicitations and can only market to accredited or qualified investors i.e. those that meet minimum income or net worth floors. In the case of family offices, marketing is not permitted to non-family members. Depending on the jurisdiction in which they are established, private funds may have other restrictions, such as the number of allowable investors. As private vehicles, they have less onerous transparency and disclosure requirements.
