Real Economic Growth Rate

Real Economic Growth Rate

The real economic growth rate is a measure of GDP growth adjusted for inflation/deflation. Real growth provides a constant measure of growth without the anomalies inherent in using nominal growth rates, which are especially marked during periods of high inflation. Using real growth allows direct comparisons between countries. And it enables policymakers to optimise and fine-tune economic, monetary and fiscal policy.
