Short Covering

Short Covering

Short covering is a trade undertaken to cover a short position, either to book a profit or limit a loss. To cover a short, an investor goes into the market to buy the same number of securities borrowed and delivers them back to the securities lender. In the case where the shorted security rises in price, the process of covering the short is known as a short squeeze.
