Short Interest

Short interest is the number of securities that have been shorted (i.e. sold short) as a proportion of the security’s average daily trading volume. The short interest ratio tells market observers how long it would take for all shorts to be covered. High short interest indicates a bearish outlook on the security in the short term but could also signal a near-term bottom as shorts are covered.
