Supranational

A supranational organisation is an organisation that exists beyond the boundaries of a single State. Supranationals are financed by several governments, all of which have official representation. Examples of supranational organisations are the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, various regional development finance institutions (Inter-American Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development etc), the European Union, the World Trade Organization and other United Nations organisations. In the capital markets, several supranational entities issue bonds to finance their operations.
