Near the Money

The term near-the-money refers to an option that is close to having intrinsic value based on the strike price of the option relative to the market price of the underlying asset. A near-the-money option is a call or put option whose strike price is close to the price of the underlying. Near-the-money options are used to set up certain exotic option trades.
